From Farm to Table

We are a family run urban farm based in Walton-on-Thames, that has a passion for growing high quality, pesticide free, locally grown product for a wide range of consumers. At the moment, we are primarily growing microgreens. We are looking into growing leafy greens, strawberrys and possibly melons, with the intention to be able to offer these to our customer's very soon. All our produce is grown indoors in a hybrid, closed loop controlled environment. This gives us the ability to grow a consistently high quality crop over an over again all year round, without the influence of the weather determining the outcome of our harvest. We grow all our produce hydroponically, in what is called a vertical farm.

Microgreens are young seedlings of edible vegetables and herbs. Unlike larger herbs and vegetables that take weeks or months to grow, most microgreens can be harvested and eaten a week to 10 days after germination. As well as being packed full of flavour, microgreens are a powerhouse house of vitamins, nutrients, and other health supporting components such as sulforaphane, antioxidants, inflammatory cytokins and other beneficial elements. They can also be up to 40x more nutrient dense than their adult counterparts, making them by far, the most nutrient rich ingredient available.

When growing consumable crops in an indoor controlled environment, there is zero need for any pesticide use or any other form of pesticide control. Pesticide use will always be a crucial part of traditional farming, ensuring that the farmer won't have crop failure and that they will have a consistent full harvest. As yield is a primary focus for traditional farmers to be able to supply the demand for the food that they produce without running at a loss.

Here at Family Greens Urban Farm, we currently operate in a 25 miles radius to where our farm is located in Walton-on-Thames, providing the local community access to high quality, freshly grown produce, with a very low carbon footprint.

We offer a subscription service where we  will work togther with you on your weekly consumption, and offer you a discounted rate for doing so as you are commiting yourself to our weekly subscription. We will then deliver your order on a weekly basis. All new subscriptions may have an initial wait time, which is dependant on the availability of the produce needed to fulfil your purchase.
